Some of the novel design features of the Windscale AGR and its development program are described. The developmental facilities, including the AGR irradiation facilities and critical assemblies, are described. The development problems encountered, e.g., graphite- CO/sub 2/ reactions and fuel elements, are discussed. Planned development work for the future is described briefly. (D.L.C.)
