STUDY OF THE LUMINESCENCE OF URANYL SULPHATE AND URANYL FLUORIDE SOLUTIONS FOR INCREASING THE SENSITIVITY OF URANIUM DETERMINATION (in Russian)

In studying the uranium(VI) luminescence in solutions containing fluorides and sulfates the possibilities were found of using luminescence, when it is excited bythe light with the wave length of 253.7 m , for quantitative U determinations. It was established that the intensity of the U(VI) luminescence and, consequently, the sensitivity of its determinations in solutions containing fluorides and sulfates increase when sodium trimetaphosphate is introduced into the solution. As there are certain relations for uranyl fluoride and uranyl sulfate solutions between the luminescence intensity and the U(VI) concentration, the amount of fluorine ions (corresponding to sulfate ions), and the temperature, it is possible to use as reference only such solutions that have the U concentration, salt composition, and temperature similar to those of the analyzed solutions.
