MAGNETIC MEASUREMENTS ON XeF$sub 4$

Journal Article · · Croatica Chemica Acta (Yugoslavia)
OSTI ID:4672736
It is found that XeF/sub 4/ is diamagnetic from 77 to 293 deg K. Fluorine chemical shift anisotropy is established by n.m.r. measurements at 29 Mc/ s. It changes sharply at 250 deg K from 5.7 plus or minus 0.2 to 1.47 plus or minus 0.1 gauss, indicating restricted molecular motion. The pure nuclear dipole-dipole second moment at low temperatures appears to be in agreement with the value calculated from the crystal structure data of XeF/sub 4/. (auth)
