EFFECT OF X-IRRADIATION ON PLASMA LACTIC DEHYDROGENASE ACTIVITY IN RABBIT AND MOUSE

Journal Article · · Ann. Rept. Radiation Center Osaka Prefect
OSTI ID:4672597
The plasma LDH activity in rabbits and NA-2 strain mice was studied after whole-body x irradiation at 300, 150, and 74 r in order to determine the threshold of such doses on plasma LDH. Plasma LDH levels of rabbits irradiated with 300 r were markedly increased in 8 hr, 2, 7, and 10 days after irradiation. The degree of elevation was highest at 1 week after irradiation and was 2 to 3.5 times normal. The threshold for plasma LDH levels in rabbits was 75 r. Plasma LDH levels of mice irradiated with 300 r increased to the highest level of about 2.5 times normal in 4 hr and showed another small elevation peak in 7 days, then appeared to be back to normal. 150 r irradiatron elevated the enzyme level in 12 hr and that of 75 r expressed any elevation higher than normal level.
