EFFECT OF Cs$sup 137$ AND Sr$sup 90$ ON GROWTH AND REPRODUCTION OF MICE. PART I

Journal Article · · Ann. Rept. Radiation Center Osaka Prefect
OSTI ID:4672568
Mice were continuously fed water contaminated with Cs/sup 137/ and Sr/ sup 90/, and growth and reproduction were observed. The intensity of contamination was 0.4 mC of Cs/sup 137/ and 0.1 mC of Sr/sup 90/ per ml in one group and 1/10 and 1/100 of these values in two other groups. The administration of isotopes began from mating and 1st and 2nd generations were examined. Growth curves of the 1st generation did not differ among four groups, but differed significantly in two groups in the 2nd generation. The mortality rate for the mice was the same for all groups in both the 1st and 2nd generations in the period from birth to 14 weeks. Sterility was observed in some of the female mice. (P.C.H.)
