Weight change of thymus and spleen of mice administered continuously with /sup 90/Sr and /sup 137/Cs was observed in relation to reproduction-span and incidence of leukemia. Strontium-90 and /sup 137/Cs were administered through drinking water, and the propagation was done by brother-and-sister mating. The levels of water contamination were 0.1 mu Ci of /sup 90/Sr and 0.4 mu Ci of /sup 137/Cs per ml in group-1, as 1 respectively as group-I in group-II, and as 1/100 respectively as group-I in group-III. Experimental mice belonged to generation from the 3rd to 9th. Control was named group-IV. Decrease of thymus weight in female mice are parallel to decrease of reproductive function (litter size per birth) in all groups. It is noticeable especially in group-III that thymus weight is on higher level than group-IV at 400 days of age in agreement with not yet disappeared reproductive function while thymus weight is lighter as well as litter size is smaller then IV at 300 days. The delay to older age in age of first and last birth as well as in atrophy of thymus in female of III would be due to breaking of aging. Decrease of spleen weight related to age is quite simple in IV, but very complicated in inner-irradiated groups. The highest induction to leukemia and the highest level of spleen weight are observed in females of I. This correlation suggests that hard compensative hypertrophy of spleen against blood or spleen cell damage might induce leukemia. (auth)
