ILLUMINATION OF 80-INCH BUBBLE CHAMBER

Technical Report ·
DOI:https://doi.org/10.2172/4671075· OSTI ID:4671075
A cylindrical condensing system whose geometry allows light to be collected along the length of narrow tubular sources and to pass through a restricted port area is used. The quantity of light collected is many times that possible to obtain with axially symmetric lenses. The optical arrangement is described. Other unique features include the use of plano reilectors to extend optically the flash tube and condenser lengths and the provision of a spot plate to eliminate surface reflections from the chamber window.
