The measurement of the relative thermal conductivity difference of normal- and ortho-deuterium at 21.7 plus or minus 1.3 deg K gave for o-D/sub 2/ about a 1.7 plus or minus 0.3% greater thermal conductivity than for n-D/sub 2/. In contrast to the ortho-para-hydrogen mixture, for which the relative difference of the thermal conductivity and viscosity at this temperature agree within the limits of error, for the deuterium modifications an important difference exists. This can be explained only partly by the variation of the rotational heat of o-D/ sub 2/ from zero. (tr-auth)
