PIEZOSPECTROSCOPIC STUDY OF LUMINESCENCE CENTERS IN ALKALI FLUORIDE CRYSTALS ACTIVATED BY HEXAVALENT URANIUM

Journal Article · · Opt. Spectry. (USSR) (English Transl.)
OSTI ID:4669069
From the splitting pattern of the luminescence lines of LiF-U and NaF-U on deformation, the existence of several types of MeF- U luminescence centers was established and their symmetry determined. It is shown that the multipolarity of the transitions in the lines corresponds to electric - dipole, magnetic -dipole, and mixed magnetic electric dipole radiation. On the basis of the resuits obtained and the hypothesis that the MeF- U luminescence centers are uranyl in nature, their structure is discussed. (auth)
