An effective method to prevent the electrostatic charge resulting from liquid flow in glass tubes is described. Tests were conducted by irradiating test tubes (7.8 mm in diam and 150 mm long; glass components in wt% of 75-SiO/sub 2/, 15.35-B/sub 2/O/sub 3/, 7.13-K/sub 2/O, 2.5-Al/sub 2/O/sub 3/, and 0.03-Fe/ sub 2 /O/sub 3/) filled with 10 mi commercially available cyclohexane from a 1-kC source of Co/sup 60/ at the rate of 3.48 x 10/sup 2/ r/hr up to dosage levels of 8.70 x 10/sup 2/, 28.18 x 10/sup 2/, 58.03 x 10/sup 2/, and 83.87 x 10/sup 2/ r at around 18 deg C. The results of the measured electrostatic charge generated in glass tubes vs volume, its maximum value vs total radiation dosage, and irradiation induced charges are discussed. It was concluded that the induced electrostatic charge decreases when the dosage exceeds a certain level. (OID)
