Ways in which the use of radioisotopes can affect the economy of industrial processes and some economic advantages of their use in public works are indicated. Results of national surveys in the USA and USSR on the economic advantages of using radioisotope techniques are discussed. Implications of the international survey presently being conducted by the International Atomic Energy Agency on economic aspects of radioisotope utilization are included. (H.M.G.)
