ION EXCHANGE SEPARATION OF URANIUM AND THORIUM IN NON-AQUEOUS AND MIXED MEDIA

The adsorption behavior of uranium, thorium, and other elements on a strongly basic anion exchange resin in ketone, ether, and alcohol media containing hydrochloric or nitric acid is described. Based on these results separation methods for uranium, thorium, and other elements in such media were developed. Special attention was given to the adsorption and separation possibilities of uranium and thorium from the rare earths for which a new spectrophotometric method for the final determination was developed.
