Tropospheric gas composition change modeling due to various natural and anthropogenic causes in the temperate belt of the northern hemisphere

Tropospheric gas composition response to the emission of the nitrogen oxides and sulfur compounds from the industrial regions is considered and evaluated. The natural source of nitrogen oxides from the lightning discharge is considered also. The response estimates are carried out with 2-D nonstationary zonal belt photochemical model with fixed both temperature and air transport. About 170 gasphase and heterogeneous reactions among the oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen, carbon, sulfur, chlorine and bromine compounds are considered. The latitudinal-longitudinal distributions of 35 species (ozone, nitrogen oxides, nitric acid, hydroxyl, perhydroxyl, methane, sulfur dioxide and others) for northern belt 30{degrees} to 60{degrees} are calculated and compared with observational data. The influence of zonal transport velocity variations and of projected emission changes on the computed concentration distributions and on their diurnal courses are evaluated. The model sensitivity to the considered releases is estimated and discussed.
