DNA-synthesizing cells in the peripheral blood of various pediatric patients were studied by 1-hr incubation in vitro with tritiated thymidine and stripping film autoradiography methods. An increased number of labeled mononuclear cells of different morphological types were found in the blood of pediatric patients with viral infections, diarrheal disorders, state of recovery from upper respiratory infections, acute hemolytic anemia, and leukemia.
