COOLANT SYSTEM FOR NUCLEAR PRESSURE TUBE REACTORS

Patent ·
OSTI ID:4649775
The coolant system described is for removing fission product heat arising from the fuel elements in the core structure of a shut-down gas-cooled pressure tube reactor on cessation of forced circulation between reactor and heat exchangers. The nuclear reactor is provided with header means for distributing the fluid to or receiving fluid from the pressure tubes. The primary coolant circuit is further provided with heat exchangers and blowers. The ducts connecting the blowers with the header means for distributing the fluid as well as the ducts connecting the header means for receiving the fluid with the heat exchangers communicate permanently with each other via particular ducts.
