Electrical Resistivity of Dilute Alloys of Rare Earths with Yttrium at Low Temperatures

The results of resistivity measurements on dilute solid solutions of Nd, Gd, Tb, and Er with Y are presented. The resistivity of all alloys varied monotonically with temperature and showed an abrupt decrease at low temperatures. Resistivity vs temperature curves are shown. These alloys have antiferromagnetic transitions at low temperatures. The decrease of the resistivity may be attributed to the decrease of the magnetic scattering due to the ordering of the magnetic moment of the rare earths.
