PROGRESS ON USAEC/AECL COOPERATIVE PROGRAM. Quarterly Report, June 1963- August 1963

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4647064

Progress at Battelle on studies relating to the U. S. and Canadian programs on heavy-water-moderated and organic-cooled reactors is described. Present research efforts involve the determination of long-terms creeprupture properties on selected SAP alloys and Zircaloy-2. The Zircaloy-2 tests in this program represent a continuation of tests initiated under Hanford sponsorship and are of particular interest since accumulated test times approximate up to 6 years. Tests were continued on both types of specimens. Short-term tests were initiated on a SAP-915 alloy which was selected as a replacement for the M-583 alloy. Several long-term tests on the remaining two SAP alloys were concluded. All Zircaloy tests have continued with the annealed specimens exhibiting primary- stage creep behavior and the cold-worked materials a third-stage behavior. (auth)
