THE CROSS SECTION OF THE REACTION $sup 6$Li(n,p)$sup 6$He IN THE NEUTRON ENERGY RANGE 3.5 TO 14.8 Mev

The cross section of the Li/sup 6/(n,p)He/sup 6/ reaction was determined by an activation method. The cross section was found to rise sharply from a threshold of about 3.5 Mev to a value of about 18 mb at 6 Mev, subsequentiy falling to 7 mb at 15 Mev. The cross section at 14.8 Mev is in agreement with that found by other workers at this neutron energy. A value of 14 plus or minus 1.5 mb for the Li/sup 7/(n,d)He/sup 6/ reaction cross section at 14.8 Mev was also measured during these experiments. (auth)
