IODINE-131 CONTENT OF CANADIAN MILK DURING 1961

The concentration of I/sup 131/ was determined in milk collected at Chalk River and other areas in Ontario and Quebec. The average concentration for 1961 was 17 pc/l, while the maximum during November of that year was 250 picocuries per litre. The yearly total is 13% of the acceptable maximum specified by the Medical Research Council (UK). Analytical methods for determining I/sup 131/ by gamma spectrometry are described. (auth)
