ON THE EFFECTS OF WELDING ON THE CORROSION RESISTANCE OF ZIRCALOY IN HIGH TEMPERATURE WATER

Journal Article · · Trans. Natl. Res. Inst. Metals (Tokyo)
OSTI ID:4640034
Rolled sheets 1 mm thick of Zircaloy-2 and its modified alloy were welded by different Ar shielding methods. The weld zones were corrosion tested in high-purity water at 320 deg C and corrosion rates, tensile strength, and elongation of the weld zones were considered as functions of time. Good corrosion resistance was found only in the specimens welded in a closed Ar-filled chamber. (Rev. Metal Lit., 20: No. 8, Aug. 1963)
