VELOCITY-DEPENDENT NUCLEON-NUCLEON POTENTIALS AND SATURATION IN NUCLEAR- MATTER

Journal Article · · Phys. Letters

Nuclear matter calculations by Scott with a standard hard-core potential gave saturation at k/sub F/ = 1.4 fm/sup -1/, while Green's calculations with a velocity-dependent potential gave no saturation even up to k/sub F/ = 1.8 fm/sup - 1/. Both potentials had the same two-body scattering data. The reasons for the discrepancy are examined, and a modification of Green's model potential that gives saturation at a reasonable value of density in nuclear matter is proposed. (D.C.W.)
