DECAY OF AN ISOMERIC STATE IN U$sup 23$$sup 4$

Journal Article · · Nuclear Physics (Netherlands) Divided into Nucl. Phys. A and Nucl. Phys. B
The half life of an isomeric state in U/sup 235/ was measured by time analyzer techniques to be 33.5 plus or minus 2.0 mu s. The gamma spectrum of the isomer was studied by delayed coincidence techniques, and energies and intensities are presented. The findings confirm the following main features of the decay scheme: (1) The isomer is fed through a 128 kev gamma ray; (2) The isomer depopulates through states of the gamma -vibrational band in U/sup 234/. Many details of the decay, however, are not yet clear. (auth)
