STUDIES OF U$sup 235$$alpha$ DECAY WITH IONIZATION $alpha$ SPECTROMETER (in Russian)

An ionization alpha spectrometer working in coincidence with a gamma spectrometer was used in studies of the alpha decay of U/sup 235/. The alpha spectram was studied without gamma coincidences and with various gamma coincidences with alpha particle groups. The measurements were made with the source enriched with U/sup 235/; however, the more intense line of U/sup 234/ (98%) w as used for stabilizing the amplification coefficient and as a stardard in measuring the energy of the U/sup 235/ alpha particles. The number of coincidences was approximately 4 pulses/min/sup -1/, using a two-dimeneion multi- channel analyzer ( gamma spectrum was measured with 50 channel aralyzer and alpha spectmm with 28 channel analyzer). The alpha spectrum without gamma coincidences and with gamma coincidences with various channels of the alpha analyzer was plotted, and multipolar gamma transitions were determined. A variation of the U/sup 235/ alpha decay scheme, based on the measurements of the alpha and gamma spectra, is included. (R.V.J.)
