A mechanical device for operating the fuel magazine of a fuel-element- charging machine is patented. The charging machine consists of a cylindrical chamber with top and bottom openings, which can be sealed off by plugs, and a fuel magazine or drum, which rotates within the chamber to line up the fuel housings with the chamber openings. The drum is operated by two coaxial ring gears, one integral with the drum and the other' mounted to rotate freely. When tthe gear train between the gear on the drum and the motor is interrupted to immobilize the drum, the second gear moves the plugs to open or close the chamber openings. (M.P.G.)
