BNL-KILOROD PROGRAM: HEALTH PHYSICS CONTROL AND DATA COLLECTION
A program is outlined for obtaining data on activity buildup in ThO/sub 2/-U/sup 233/O/sub 2/, containing 38 ppm U/sup 232/, as it is processed in the Kilorod Facility and data on gamma dose rates and doses to personnel from the U/ sup 232/ daughters. Sampling at the various stages in the process, followed by gamma- and alpha-spectrometry, will be used to follow growth and distribution of U/sup 232/ daughters in the processing lines. Ion chambers inside the shielding will be used to monitor dose rates at the same points in the processing for which calculations were made. Film badges and rings will be used to obtain data on personnel exposure, both for total exposure in a process line and exposure at individual operating stations. (auth)
