EVALUATION OF DLCS3890202, STEAM GENERATOR BLOWDOWN RATE (INTERNAL INSPECTION)

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4636680
Periodic internal inspections of the PWR steam generators were made to study the effectiveness of sludge removal at increased blowdown rates. The blowdown rate was increased from 5500 to 25000 lb/hr in Aug. 1961, and the last inspection was made on Nov. 29, 1962. The sludge samples were analyzed and the 1961 and 1962 analyses are compared. It is concluded that the sludge accumulation is about the same, and that a blow-down rate of 25000 lb/hr at 2- week intervals does not prevent the accumulation. (D.L.C.)
