An investigation of the Th--Ge system established the formation of the phases Th/sub 3/Ge, Th/sub 3/Ge/sub 2/, ThGe, ThGe/sub 1.5/, ThGe/sub 2/, and Th/ sub 0.9/Ge/sub 2/. Crystal structure data for all the phases except Th/sub 3/Ge are given. A tentative phase diagram was constructed on the basis of metallographic and x-ray analyses and from melting point determinations. The phase equilibrium and structure results are discussed and compared with corresponding results for the Th--Si and U -Si systems. (auth)
