The development of graphite-moderated CO/sub 2/-gas cooled reactors in Britain is described. The development of the advanced gas-cooled reactor and the use of special-clothing fuel eleinents, covering both the Magnox'' and the AGR'' versions of this system, as well as the discussion about the cost for the electricity in comparison with the coal-fired stations are reviewed.
