THE AECL FLUID SWITCH AND ITS CONTROL CIRCUIT. Instruction Manual

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4629378
A sample scanning valve was developed for use in a fuel rupture monitoring system. The scanning valve or fluid switch is required to accept a minimum of 40 input sample flows of coolant from the reactor and to sequentially connect these flows, two at a time, to two separate output lines. The main body of the apparatus is constructed of one 10-in. 900-lb blind flange, one 10-in. 900-lb weldneck flange, and associated piping. The port selector is driven in 15 deg steps by a stepping motor with its rotor inside and stator outside the tubular section of the fluid switch. The control circuit automatic, manual, and logic operations and readout equipment are described. The startup and operating procedures are outlined. (M.C.G.)
