CHANGE OF THE OXYGEN CONSUMPTION OF RATS UNDER X-RAY WHOLE-BODY IRRADIATION (in German)

Journal Article · · Strahlentherapie (West Germany)
OSTI ID:4628903
The influence of total-body x irradiation on O consumption was investigated in rats. A Noyon-Diaferometer was used for the measurements. The greatest reduction was observed 3 to 6 hr after irradiation, while an increase of the values could be observed 22 hr later. Since an increase in hematocrit values could not be found, the reduction of O consumption for the dosage administered is not accompanied by a classical shock syndrome. The relation between shock and O consumption, discussed in the literature, is pointed out. (auth)
