INELASTIC $pi$-N INTERACTIONS AT 7.5 Bev (in Russian)

Studies of inelastic pi /sup -/-N interactions in irradiated emulsion revealed 2100 events. The distribution of 200 events was calculated by statistical theory considering isobars. The results showed that only a certain percent of events with various multiplicities coincided with published data and statistical theory. Angular pi -meson distribution in the center-of-mass system was asymmetric, but the asymmetry diminished with the multiplicity. Proton angular distributions were also asymmetric, but their asymmetry did not depend on multiplicity. Proton and pi meson momentum distributions have two maxima each. Short prong momentum and angular characteristics are described by kinematic analysis. The results indicated the importance of processes taking place during pi - pi resonance and nucleon isobar formation. (R.V.J.)
