The bremsstrahlung spectrum of 2.85-Mev electrons from a linear accelerator was used to excite the 2.21-Mev level of Al/sup 27/. From the results of resonance self-absorption the value g GAMMA = (1.8 plus or minus 0.4) x 10/sup -2/ ev was obtained. The angular distribution of the 2.21-Mev resonance radiation was found to be of the form W( theta ) = 1 + (0.26 plus or minus 0.05)P/sub 2/(cos theta ). The results are interpreted in terms of the collective model. (auth)
