A STUDY OF THE ALUMINUM-LITHIUM SYSTEM BETWEEN ALUMINUM AND Al-Li

Journal Article · · Trans. AIME
OSTI ID:4624378

The boundaries of the ( alpha + BETA ) field in the Al- Li system were determined between 150 and 550 deg C utilizing quantitative metallography and lattice-parameter measurements. The solubility of lithium in aluminum decreases from 12.0 at. % Li at 550 deg C to 5.5 at.% Li at 150 deg C. BETA Al-Li is saturated with aluminum at 45.8 at. % Li and has this boundary value constant over the temperature range 150 to 550 deg C. (auth)
