Title: ATOMIC ENERGY COMMISSION-BUREAU OF MINES PROCESS HEAT REACTOR PROGRAM. Quarterly Progress Report, November 1, 1961-January 31, 1962

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4623048

S>Tests to determine the operating characteristics of the 250-psig helium-recycle compressor were completed. Helium flow was varied from 2000 scfh to the msximum flow that did not overload the compressor motor over the ranges l00 to 250 psig and l00 to 1000 deg F. There was no unstable operation. Work is continuing on construction of the coal gasifier for the Induction-Heated Simulated Nuclear Reactor System. Helium and helium--graphite suspensions were recycled through the loop to determine their compressor power requirements and heat-transfer properties. Tests were made to establish limits of parameters for a statistical study of the effect of variables on dustremoval efficiency of the electrostatic precipitator. (M.C.G.)
