NUCLEAR PHYSICS PROGRESS REPORT, APRIL 1, 1972--MARCH 31, 1973
The research during the year continued to emphasize nuclear reaction mechanism studies and investigation of nuclear structure. Closely related theoretical studies were carried out. The principal equipment employed were the AEC-owned 5.5 MV and EN Tandem Van de Graaff accelerators, and the IBM-1800 Computer Data Acquisition System that are all housed in the Rice University-owned T. W. Bonner Nuclear Laboratories. During the year new information and understanding were made to neutron physics, multi-particle break-up, nuclear spectroscopy, nuclear structure, nuclear theory, and certain applied problems.
