Fifty-six production models of the SM-1. Core m (Type-3) stationary fuel plates were made available for comparison tests with the Type-3 mockup elements used in initial experiments that formed the basis for SM-1 Core Ill (Type-3) core specifications. Objectives of these tests were: (1) to evaluate the reactivity difference between the mockup and qualification elements, (2) to establish uniformity among the qualification fuel plates, and (3) to establish that their B-10 loading falls within specified limits.
