PRODUCTION OF SM-1 CORE III. Final Report

The qualification and production of stationary fuel elements, control- rod fuel elements, neutron absorber sections, and dummy fuel elements are described. The entire core was manufactured with no rejections of fuel element or absorber assemblies. Fuel plates were produced with a reject rate of about 9%, and the product was consistently of high quality. The difficulties encountered in production and qualification were solved without compromising the product. (D.C.W.)
