Adsorption of ethylene on selected Al{sub 2}O{sub 3}-supported Pt, Pt-Sn, and Pt-In catalysts was studied at 300 K. Sn and In decreased ethylene uptake. Integral, isothermal heats of adsorption were measured to be around 21 kcal/mol and not significantly altered by the presence of Sn or In. Decomposition of ethylene upon absorption is suppressed by the addition of Sn or In,except for highly dispersed Pt. The heat of irreversible adsorption of C{sub 2}H{sub 4} on Al{sub 2}O{sub 3}, In/Al{sub 2}O{sub 3}, and Sn/Al{sub 2}O{sub 3} without Pt was 4.9, 6.6, and 9.5 kcal/mol, respectively. 45 refs., 4 figs., 3 tabs.
