Absorption heat for H{sub 2} at 300 K were determined on a group of Pt, Pt-Sn, and Pt-In/Al{sub 2}O{sub 3} catalysts. The irreversible Q{sub ad} values fell between 10.6 and 13.3 kcal/mol. The In and Sn promoters decreased the amount of CO adsorbed at 300 K, but not the irreversible heats of adsorption were essentially not altered by the presence of either Sn or In. Catalytic effects of Sn or In promoted Pt/Al{sub 2}O{sub 3} for n-butane hydrogenolysis were studied. Dilution of Pt by Sn and In correlates with the catalytic efficiency. 73 refs., 10 figs., 8 tabs.
