The focus of this session was to suggest and prioritize ways in which building the knowledge base in the area of electroseparations would aid and augment the research development and implementation efforts in electroseparations. The discussion was very wide-ranging with a large number of points being made. Overall, the themes surrounded the concern that electroseparations and the underpinning science were not well handled either at the undergraduate or graduate levels, at least in the United States. One of the results of this relative ignorance is that industrial concerns also reflect this gap in knowledge thus making it more difficult to gain implementation of ideas in electroseparation. A significant number of different approaches were recommended to remedy this situation. A summary of the most significant twenty of these is included in the paper.
