  1. Genase, L.L.C., Loudon, TN (United States)
The purpose of this session was to develop a set of electroseparation opportunities that could help focus the discussion in the next session, {open_quotes}Process Research and Development Needs.{close_quotes} The approach was to make a matrix of industries and electroseparations technologies (ET) and identify which ET could be useful in the various process industries. After that, the idea was to identify a few of the biggest winners and identify whether developing technology was a short-, mid- or long-term exercise. In addition, a set of themes was developed to help guide the choosing of selection criteria for funding projects. Electrophoresis, and various electromagnetic technologies, including enhanced adsorption, enhanced extraction, chemical membranes, distillation, and enhanced filtration were of much interest.
