See CONFThe problems of developing a strict theory on incipient boiling of liquids are discussed. Superheats in real conditions for incipient boiling of water under vacuum are compared with incipient boiling of alkali metals under pressure. Arguments are presented which lead to the conclusion that developing boiling theory on the basis of the cavitation theory'' are unpromising. (LCL)
