Heat transfer behavior in turbulent flow of liquid metals in a magnetic field is of scientific interest because the study of turbulent MHD flows, and the heat transfer in such flows, makes it possible to better understand the characteristics of turbulent heat transfer in general. Knowledge of such heat transfer behavior is of practical interest in the design of electromagnetie pumps, MHD generators, and other MHD devices. Results from theoretical and experimental research on heat transfer in turbulent flow of liquid metals in both longitudinal and transverse magnetic fields are analyzed, and further research problems are outlined.
