Stress analysis of BWR pressure vessel with BERSAFE and FLHE
From 2nd international congress for pressure vessel and piping technology; San Antonio, Texas, USA (1 Oct 1973). See CONF731003-P1. A stress analysis of a BWR pressure vessel by means of the finite element programs BERSAFE and FLHE is presented. As concerns the overall analysis, two dimensional axisymmetric studies are made of upper and lower part of the vessel. Special attention has been given to the deformation and relative movement of upper flange of vessel and of the flange of the top lid respectively. The feed water nozzles and the pump nozzles for the penetration of the bottom spherical shell by the pump shafts were analyzed by using 3 dimensional isoparametric elements. Special mesh generation programs were used to deal with the discretization of the three dimensional structures. (auth)
