From international symposium on dynamics of ionized gases; Tokyo, Japan (13 Sep 1971). See CONF-710921--. On the basis of the quasi-linear fluid equations, the effect of collisionless dissipation due to the firehose instability on twodimensional steady flow is considered. The main discussion is restricted to aligned and perturbation flow. It was found that the dissipation terms are proportional to the fluctuation energy density in the main fiow and are nonlinearly related to the other quantities through the growth-rate parameter of instability.
