Neutron actlvation analysis is one of the most powerful techniques for measuring quantitatively a large number of the trace elements present in aerosol samples. A neutron activation method is described for the determination of Na, K, Sc, Cr, Fe, Co, Zn, As, Br, Rb, Cd, Sb, Cs, La, Ce, Eu, Tb, Au, Hg, and Th concentrations in air filters, avoiding any chemical treatment of the sample. The method provides the determination of the average trace elements' concentration present in 50 m/sup 3/ air filter samples. (auth)
