In the presence of hydroxylamine molybdenum(VI) forms with TAR a complex of MO:TAR = 1: 1 composition. In the optimum range pH 4.5 to 5.7 the molar absorption coefficient of the complex is 2.94 x 10/sup 4/ at 530 nm and its conditional stability constant is 4.4 x 10/sup 5/. The method was used to determine molybdenum in copper ores after an initial separation with alpha - benzoinoxime in sodium tungstate. (auth)
