1-propanethiol as a radical scavenger in the $gamma$-radiolysis of liquid cyclohexane

Journal Article · · Can. J. Chem., v. 51, no. 2, pp. 192-197
OSTI ID:4425056

1-Propanethiol is an excellent H atom and alkyl radical scavenger in the gamma radiolysis of liquid cyclohexane. The total radical yield (5.2) is measured by twice the yield of propyl disulfide which appears to be invariant with propanethiol concentration. 1-Propanethiol-d is about as efficient an H atom scavenger as ethylene. C/sub 3/H/sub 7/S radicals add reversibly to cyclohexene. (auth)
