Current liquid-metal heat transfer research in Japan

Conference ·
OSTI ID:4423836

From 4th international seminar on heat mass transfer in liquid metals; Trojir, Yugoslavia (6 Sep 1971). See CONF-710942-. For the purpose of developing liquid-metal-cooled fast reactors. many investigations have been carried out in Japan. In the matter of convective heat transfer, eddy diffusivities for heat and momentum transfers were studied and applied to the correlation of heat-transfer coefficients for sodium. The heat-transfer coeff- cients were measured for both uniform and sinusoidal axial hoat flux shapes. In the case of boiling heat transfer, boiling curve, bubble growth velocity for mercury, the influence of dissolved gas on the incipient-boiling superheat and the power spectrum of pressure fluctuation for sodium convective boiling have been investigated.
