Results of mock-up test on ultrasonic in-service inspection tool for nuclear reactor vessel
From 2nd international. congress for pressure vessel and piping technology; San Antonio, Texas, USA (1 Oct 1973). See CONF731003-P2. The results are discussed of the mock-up test made with the inservice inspection tool developed for a pressurized water reactor vessel (PWR). Used in the flaw detecting method of this device were a normal beam method, angle beam method, and pitch-catch method. Satisfactory results were obtained in the tests of flaw detectability and repeatability in all of these methods. The interiors of the nuclear reactor vessel were lined with an overlay cladding of stainless steel. Although this cladding is detrimental to flaw detection, the F/B method is effective in elimiating the effect of the cladding. (auth)
